Weekend Wanderings #15: A Trio of Graffitied Mountains ⛰️

Hi! Happy Friday from Forest Heights in beautiful Athens, Georgia. I hope you were able to enjoy a day of rest with your loved ones. 🥧❤️

In seeking places that are colorful year round, I think of our heavily graffitied mountains. My love of these places is problematic cuz obviously, it sucks when people deface nature. The harm humans have done to these spaces is most evident on Bell Mountain which is badly pitted from poor mining practices on top of being tagged to death.

At the same time, these places have been covered in spray paint for so long, that it’s become part of their visual identity. My philosophy is this: recognize the damage done, laugh at the dick jokes, ignore the MAGA tags, and don’t fuck it up further. Here are three vandalized mountains you can visit in the Blue Ridge/Piedmont area:
